By opting in to the Spoken Heroes SMS program, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. These terms are separate from and in addition to our website Terms of Use. Participation constitutes your acceptance of these terms and your agreement to comply with all applicable laws.
1. Program Description
Spoken Heroes sends SMS messages to subscribers who have provided explicit consent. These messages may include event reminders, workshop announcements, program updates, volunteer opportunities, fundraising campaigns and other informational content related to our organization.
2. Opt‑In Consent
To join our SMS program, you must provide express one‑to‑one consent. Acceptable opt‑in methods include:
- Website Form: Checking a clearly labeled opt‑in box on our website sign‑up forms.
- Text‑to‑Join Keyword: Texting a keyword (such as “JOIN” or “HEROES”) to our designated short or long code.
- Written/Verbal Consent: Providing verbal or written consent after being presented with a compliant disclosure explaining the SMS program.
Consent is specific to Spoken Heroes and cannot be transferred to other organizations.
3. Message Frequency and Charges
Message frequency varies but generally will not exceed four messages per month unless there is a program event or urgent update. Standard message and data rates may apply. You are responsible for any SMS charges imposed by your carrier.
4. Opt‑Out and Support
- Opt‑Out: You may withdraw consent and stop receiving messages at any time by replying “STOP” to any Spoken Heroes text. Upon receiving your STOP request, we will send a confirmation and will remove your number from our SMS list immediately.

Your consent to receive SMS messages from Spoken Heroes is not a condition of any purchase or donation. You may choose not to opt in without affecting your ability to engage with our programs or services.
6. Limitation of Liability
Spoken Heroes is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages; delivery is subject to effective transmission by your carrier and network provider. We are not responsible for any third‑party fees or damages that may result from your use of SMS messages. Messages may contain links to third‑party websites; we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.
7. Changes to Terms
We may modify these SMS Terms and Conditions at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via SMS or posted on our website. Continued participation after any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey and applicable federal law. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Essex County, New Jersey.
