The Spoken Heroes Institute is Spoken Heroes’ signature leadership and workforce development program designed to empower youth and young adults with disabilities through comprehensive training, mentorship, and real-world experiences that prepare them for lifelong success. The Institute provides an engaging, accessible learning environment where participants strengthen communication, self-advocacy, leadership, workplace readiness, public speaking, teamwork, problem-solving, and professional development skills. Through interactive workshops, mentorship, career exploration, community engagement, service-learning opportunities, internships, media projects, and hands-on experiences, participants develop the confidence and practical skills needed to succeed in higher education, employment, entrepreneurship, and independent living. As a disability-led program, the Spoken Heroes Institute emphasizes that disability is not a limitation but a source of strength, resilience, and leadership. Participants learn to advocate for themselves, understand their rights, build meaningful professional networks, utilize accessible technology, and become ambassadors for disability inclusion within their schools, workplaces, and communities. The Institute also provides opportunities to connect with employers, disability advocates, educators, industry professionals, and community leaders, helping participants expand their networks while gaining valuable insight into a wide range of career pathways. The Spoken Heroes Mentorship Program empowers youth and young adults with disabilities by connecting them with mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support as they navigate education, employment, independent living, and personal growth. Through one-on-one mentorship, group discussions, networking opportunities, leadership development, and community engagement, participants build confidence, strengthen self-advocacy skills, and develop meaningful relationships with professionals and peers who understand their experiences. Our mentors help participants identify their strengths, set achievable goals, overcome barriers, and prepare for future success. The program fosters independence while creating a supportive community where participants are encouraged to grow into leaders, advocates, and changemakers within their schools, workplaces, and communities.

Spoken Heroes is an approved provider of New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), delivering comprehensive transition services that prepare students with disabilities for competitive integrated employment and successful adult lives. Designed for students ages 11–24 with disabilities, Pre-ETS provides individualized and group-based instruction focused on career exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, postsecondary education planning, accessible technology, and work-based learning experiences. Participants gain practical skills through interactive workshops, employer engagement, mentorship, mock interviews, resume development, communication training, financial literacy, and real-world career exploration. Our disability-led approach ensures students receive culturally responsive, accessible, and empowering instruction that equips them with the confidence, knowledge, and skills necessary to transition successfully from school into higher education, vocational training, apprenticeships, or meaningful employment.

The Spoken Heroes Out-of-School Youth Employment Services (OSYES) Program supports young adults with disabilities who are no longer enrolled in school by providing individualized employment preparation, career coaching, workforce development, and ongoing support toward meaningful employment and long-term career success. Participants receive personalized career assessments, job readiness instruction, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, workplace communication training, digital literacy, accessible technology instruction, financial literacy, self-advocacy coaching, and employment navigation services. The program also emphasizes leadership development, professionalism, problem-solving, and building confidence in workplace environments. Through employer partnerships, mentorship, and community-based experiences, participants gain valuable skills that increase independence, expand employment opportunities, and prepare them to enter and succeed in today’s workforce.

The Spoken Heroes Accessible Technology Program equips individuals with disabilities with the knowledge and confidence to effectively use assistive and accessible technologies that promote independence, education, communication, employment, and daily living. Participants receive hands-on instruction in a variety of accessibility tools, adaptive software, mobile applications, and built-in accessibility features across smartphones, tablets, and computers. Training may include screen readers, screen magnification, speech-to-text, voice control, captioning, hearing accessibility features, low vision tools, braille technology, artificial intelligence tools, accessible productivity software, and other technologies designed to reduce barriers. Our program emphasizes practical, real-world application by helping participants identify technology solutions that meet their individual needs while increasing digital confidence, workplace readiness, academic success, and independent living skills. As technology continues to evolve, Spoken Heroes remains committed to ensuring individuals with disabilities have equitable access to the tools that empower them to thrive in every aspect of life.
